A little about me…

A sketch in pencil and pen of a cow for a new year's card for 2021

This is the New Year’s card I sketched for 2021.

I draw.

You name it, I’ll draw it. I like pencil and paper best but recently I have been using Illustrator more.

Cover of short story the Seedling by Jessica Mancoo. Illustration of a seedling in a pot surrounded by butterflies, bees and flies in a field.

I wrote and illustrated a short story during the Pandemic.

I write.

I like writing Short Stories and articles.

Jessica learning to paraglide. Jessica is flying with her paraglide and her teacher is running after her.

At one point, I was even learning how to paraglide!

I learn and explore.

From Japanese to Astrology - my interests are diverse and I love to learn new skills or about new topics.

I care.

I love doing volunteer work and helping causes close to my heart.

Why UX/UI design?

I am a problem solver.

From my days as a maths undergraduate student to my time as a volunteer founding a beach cleaning initiative in Japan - problem solving has been an integral part of my life!

It’s constantly changing.

With new software releases or updates and a constant flow of emerging techniques and ideas - there are always new things to learn!

I love variety.

From style guides to prototyping to desk research and user interviews. There are many different aspects of UX/UI design.

I am a chatterbox.

UX design allows for collaboration and teamwork - giving me ample chance to talk to a wide variety of people!

I enjoy being creative.

Creativity is the spice of life. Where it is warranted I enjoy solving problems with a little creative flair.

UX/UI design puts people at the heart of decisions.

By taking the user into consideration we create designs which benefit the majority of people.
