Exceed Reading Stars

Helping kids achieve beyond their capabilities

Exceed Reading Stars.

During the Pandemic, I started to teach myself how to use Adobe Illustrator. When I read about the work of Exceed Reading Stars I wanted to get involved and help in any way I could. Using my teaching experience, I initially designed a Passport Reward System. I sent this to the CEO and she suggested that I become involved with the Project Management Team.

After attending a few meetings, I got involved with planning sessions and designing the Student Handbook.

I helped with the ground work for 9 handbooks in total - there were three books for each ability level. I also was able to help with in person sessions in Easter 2021.

I learnt a lot from working on this project. Firstly, the importance of collaborative platforms - if I had designed the handbooks on an online platform like Canva - It would have been easier for other Project Workers to help me with layout. On reflection, I also should have used a grid and templates to design the handbooks - It would have made the final product look more consistent.
